Saturday 9th March Wolf Music In Bournemouth

Howdy folks a reminder for your busy calendars this one not to be missed the excitment is rising should be a howling night !!! This is our first party of the year so expect the usual naughtyness
Nominated for the best Label 2012 in DJ magazine. Global travellers as far and wide as Australia for the internationally acclaimed MELBOURNE DEEPCAST.

The lads who discovered UK Deep House/Future garage Superheroes such as:

James Welch
Maxxi Soundsystem

Matt Neale and Stu Clark have been lighting fires across the globe on the Deep House scene for the past couple of years (dont believe us just check the singe marks on their beards).

Regular spinners at TIEF/ Corsica Studios London the bearded ones certainly know how to string a track or two together as well as sign them to their label and we are PROUD to have them take over the Deepblue Hifi at The Winchester on Sat 9th March for our 1st party of 2013.

I’ll be honest i can’t explain how good they are, but last time we saw them there were a hell of a lot of “What the fuck is that” moments coming out of the speakers.

Medlar top 10 tracks

Medlar is one of BITD’s Fav artists producers at the moment and will be huge in 2013.

Medlar, one of our favourite producers of 2012 kindly stopped by with 10 tracks he highly recommends for your weekend. We followed up his selection with a few of his own creations too.

Huge thanks to Medlar for taking the time to put this together for us, here’s a little about the man himself:

“2011 was a fantastic year for Ned Pegler. His original productions under both his Klic and Medlar monikers gained support from a diverse selection of tastemakers including 2562, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jackmaster, Addison Groove, 6th Borough Project, Space Dimension Controller and Jimpster – as well as airplay through Radio 1, 6Music and Rinse FM – and the Hit and Hope imprint which he co-runs forged an identity as a purveyor of quality underground electronic music, regardless of genres and trends.

Medlar appeared for the first time in June with ‘Terrell’, immediately cementing his place as a producer within the record boxes of many of the major players in the deep house scene. In 2012 he will continue to release original material exclusively through Wolf Music Recordings, and his demand as a remixer is already apparent, with reworks penned for release on Foto, Kolour, 4th Wave & Join the Dots over the coming months.”

EJECA Horizons EP

Every year electronic music has its trends that quickly come and go, but one of 2012′s house music trends looks like it could be here to stay.

90s style garage house has seen a massive revival this year thanks to the likes of Bicep and their collaborator on the massive ‘You‘, Ejeca. The latter’s new Horizon EP on Needwant has vibes in spades, and in its title track – one of the tunes of the year.

Clocking in at just under seven minutes, ‘Horizon’ builds up slowly with some soft synths before eventually exploding into ‘woo!’ samples and ravey style stabs just after the 2:30 mark. A long breakdown follows that lets the track catch its breath before building up into a frenzy again.

There’s certainly nothing new about ‘Horizon’ so to speak, but given the aforementioned trend for old school sounding tunes at the moment, it just works. It’s also lead to a diverse range of DJs playing it out, including Radio 1′s Skream & Benga – better known for their chest rattling dubstep.

The other two cuts are slightly more restrained in comparison to the opener, but still high in quality.

‘Dazed’ is a darker, slower affair that leans towards a more industrial techno sound, while ‘See Through You’ picks up the pace again, blending a cut-up UKG style vocal with a warm, mesmeric deep house beat.

The latter two tracks certainly prove Ejeca has more in his locker than simply replicating sounds from a bygone era, and his short but promising discography shows he’s definitely a name to keep a close eye on.
