We at BITD love a little disco its in our blood heard these guys couple of years ago and they are going from strength to strength. Recently saw them on channel 4 ‘s party night and became hooked im sure this set will have you groovin.
Acclaimed London DJ collective HORSE MEAT DISCO now into their eighth year, have continued to lead the way with packed residencies at their HQ at The Eagle in London’s Vauxhall, Lux in Lisbon and with the Tape organisation in Berlin. Inspired by the music and inclusive ethos of New York’s club scene during the ‘70s and ‘80s, the collective have garnered a unique reputation for amazing parties and unmatchable sets, the quartet of DJs each mixing their own individual quality blend of disco juice with all manner of dancefloor fillers: be it punk funk, italo, house, electric bangers or plain old oddities! As well as shows every weekend through Europe and the UK Horse Meat Disco are trailblazing the disco heat to lovers from across the globe. Following a recent sell-out festival tour with DFA in Australia and world-beating appearances everywhere including top fashion house Chanel the team are a party syndicate to be reckoned with! Their regular appearances at festivals Glastonbury, Bestival and Lovebox have also spread to world leading festivals including Vivid and Furture Music Festival in Australia, Electric Elephant, PS1 & San Francisco Pride.
They have a hugely successful compilation series on K7! Records of which the fourth will hit stores in November plus a much sought after vinyl-only secret edit series for those in the know. For the last year they have been in the studio and are set to unleash the inner workings of their musical minds on the world! http://youtu.be/kerULmdCtfY.Inspired by the halcyon days of New York nightlife including Mancuso’s Loft, Nicky Siano’s Gallery and late lamented DJ Adam Goldstone, Horse Meat Disco was started in 2003 by DJs James Hillard (ex-Nuphonic) and Jim Stanton, long-time lynchpin of Jockey Slut magazine. From early parties in London’s Chinatown, Horse Meat took up their famed weekly residency in Eagle London in Vauxhall and, joined by DJs Filthy Luka (Luke Howard, ex- Queer Nation) and Severino (CODEX), quickly built a reputation for fantastic parties and high quality disco sets.
Medlar is one of BITD’s Fav artists producers at the moment and will be huge in 2013.
Medlar, one of our favourite producers of 2012 kindly stopped by with 10 tracks he highly recommends for your weekend. We followed up his selection with a few of his own creations too.
Huge thanks to Medlar for taking the time to put this together for us, here’s a little about the man himself:
“2011 was a fantastic year for Ned Pegler. His original productions under both his Klic and Medlar monikers gained support from a diverse selection of tastemakers including 2562, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jackmaster, Addison Groove, 6th Borough Project, Space Dimension Controller and Jimpster – as well as airplay through Radio 1, 6Music and Rinse FM – and the Hit and Hope imprint which he co-runs forged an identity as a purveyor of quality underground electronic music, regardless of genres and trends.
Medlar appeared for the first time in June with ‘Terrell’, immediately cementing his place as a producer within the record boxes of many of the major players in the deep house scene. In 2012 he will continue to release original material exclusively through Wolf Music Recordings, and his demand as a remixer is already apparent, with reworks penned for release on Foto, Kolour, 4th Wave & Join the Dots over the coming months.”
